I generally am attracted to "harder" Fantasy (David Gemmell, George R.R. Martin, etc.), so I was a bit skeptical when introduced to this book. However I was pleasantly surprised. Although this book is geared towards the younger reader, it never seems to insult either the adult reader nor the youngsters. The story shows its pedigree by honoring varying timeless classics such as "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe", "Swiss Family Robinson", and some thematic elements from "The Hobbit".
I believe it is a good introduction book for newer fantasy readers and a refreshing tale for us "hardcore" readers as well. I recommend!

Atazia edition by John Petts Sybil Harlow Children eBooks Reviews

I love the dialogue between the dad and the kids. It is very authentic.
Interesting storyline! I really want to find out how what happens next.
Thrilling and humorous! I enjoyed the clever thought behind their escape plans and the wry humor by the dad and some of the other characters.
I thoroughly enjoyed this adventure into faerie land from new authors. The depictions of the varied faeries and their antagonists were novel, well done. Though the tone is aimed to young adults, the various factions and politics in the faerie world are adult enough to keep my interest, and the battles fought both won and lost adrenaline pumping. I can't wait for the sequel.
Remember your first trip through the wardrobe? You met a gallant lion that could actually speak and lead armies of noble creatures, a cackling cold witch who hated everything good, and a wonderful faun that stole your heart with his crushing kindness. Remember that? Atazia brought about those same giddy feelings in me. This read had everything I look for in a fantasy/adventure novel. Love, betrayal, wicked enemies, beloved new friends, trust issues, children's ideas that knock parents for a loop with their simple brilliance, and danger, all set in a uniquely lush and rich environment with all new artistry and cultures.

The story is beautifully written, with fun characters to fit any reader's personality. It's like slipping into a dream, frighteningly disturbing at times, yet you find yourself truly immersed in the world that has been created (it seems) just for me! Petts truly draws the reader in with astonishing attention to detail, yet keeps the story moving forward with suspense and intrigue in every chapter.

I am eagerly awaiting Petts' next foray into fantasy done right.
Thoroughly enjoyable adventure story. Great for adults but also suitable for the slightly younger set. Solid writing kept the book flowing -- no boring parts!
Got caught up in the story!
Enjoyed reading this book, liked how the fairy world interacts with the humans. Easy to follow and not get lost when put down then picked back up
There is so much fine fantasy to be read I am not sure why one would chose this book. It is not offensive in any way. However, it is not wonderful in any way either. The prose is suitable for children under ten years of age. The concept would be engrossing for a child who has not been exposed to better fantasy.
