Airel The Airel Saga Book 1 Aaron Patterson Chris White 9780982607862 Books Reviews

That's exactly what I said upon reading the last page. I loved the traditional story line in the book but the chapters of flashes of back history I found myself skipping over. I mean I get your trying to give us info of why the main character is the way she is becoming but to devote a whole book to it and then end book one with still no answers I'm like not interested in book 2 enough to put myself through that torture again. I was very disappointed and thought the flash back chapters loose the story, kinda felt I signed up to read a different book than I did. It defiantly took away the point of keeping the reader hooked, to improve it I would have shorten these glimpses and not dedicated 2 chapters in a row to flashing back or I would have given the background info at the start of the book and condensed the info, it was just too much.
By the time the plot started going somewhere, it just ended. I think the plot might be interesting, but honestly it didn't go far enough to know! I didn't learn enough about the plot in the first book to intrigue me enough to pay for the 2nd book. You might actually be doing yourself a favor by merging the 2 books. I'm going to wait a little while and see if I care what Ariel is or what the heck was going on back in history. I figure if my brain keeps wondering back to the story line I'll dish out the money for the 2nd. I can't believe you ended it the way you did. Seriously, what were you thinking? It wasn't really even at a cliffhanger or anything and who the heck was the last chapter even about? It didn't make sense. That was a bad place to put a commercial break.
Ok I have read a lot of fallen angel stories, but....none like this. So where to start?

Well first I just have to say the cover is breathtaking, absolutely amazing! I know that you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover, and all that blah blah blah....but I mean come on!! You have to admit it calls to you. lolz

But whats waiting behind that cover? Well lets continue on shall we?

Airel is just an average highschool girl. Living an average life. Trying to stay out of the limelight of popularity at school. At times feeling ackward, and confused as most teenage girls do. Although I do have to say she is less niave than most girls her age. She knows that falling for a boy, and becoming hopelessly in love will only hurt her in the end. She's smart in that way, and I heart her for it. In the end though, no matter how hard you try, no matter how old you are, love knows no boundaries. Love conqures all. It makes you fall first, and ask questions later. She was supposed to just be a job for Micheal....is it possible Airel isn't the only one who is gonna feel the fall-out from loves wrath? When the battle wages, and loves sinks it's teeth into you, the question is are you willing to die for it?

We must all die, before we can live.....if only we really understood how true that is.

This book takes you through a journey. I love how you not only get the present day story of Airel, but you also get the story behind the story. The flashbacks, and different points of view make this all the more interesting. At first everything seems kinda detached. Like story A, doesn't quite line up with story B, but them BAM all the pieces fall into place, your heart starts to pull from your chest, and the ending....OMG the ending. There is the YA stories of young love, we've all read them. We've all even fallin for them. We've sat on the edge of of seat, white knuckle gripping the book, while the lovers fight side by side. We have cried for them. This book left me to stunned to cry. It went beyond that. What if I told you not only does love have no boundaries, but it was so strong it could cross the enemy line of a war that as been raging since the great fall? Can a love really be the tie that binds the side of GOD with the side of Evil?

Or will mortal enemies remain mortally damaged.....

Nope, nope I've already said to much. Now go run along a grab yourself a copy!
Airel is just a regular teenager. One day, there's a new boy in school named Michael Alexander, the gorgeous guy that had recently witnessed an embarrassing moment for Airel. She feels instantly attracted to him, but fights it because that's not her style. Her best friend, Kim, is interested in Michael's friend, James, so the four of them start hanging out together and she gets to know Michael. Strange things start happening and Airel's trying to figure it out. She's also not sure about Michael but can't seem to stop herself from falling for him.

We also get a parallel story which takes place in 1250 BC. Krieos, an angel, fell in love with a human, and she died in childbirth. The decisions he makes after that affect him and his daughter and an innocent village. We meet his old friend, Yamanu, who he trusts to help him hide from the Seer. This part is interesting but the book ends before the two storylines intersect.

I enjoyed reading this story. I didn't feel like I got enough with this part to have strong feelings about any of it, though. Airel and Michael both seem likable, but they're still in the get to know each other stage and haven't had any kind of heart to heart yet. I like Airel's friend, Kim. It seems like she'll add a lot to the story. I'm always interested to see how male authors portray teenage girls and I think they're doing a great job so far! I'm also interested in learning more about Krieos. I feel like this is just the beginning and this part ends on a cliffhanger, so as soon as I can, I'm going to read more!

[I've actually had a paper copy of this book for a couple of years. When it was pretty new, I met one of the authors, Aaron Patterson, at a Costco signing and I purchased a copy which he signed. I kept meaning to get to it, but didn't, so I was excited to see a blog tour for it. For this tour, I read the version which I received because I was a little confused since it was smaller than my paper copy. My paper copy is the first four parts of this story and the copy is the first part, so my review only covers part one. It also appears that the copy has quite a few revisions from the paper copy I have (including the very end-- version is much better!).]

Content Mild swearing

I received a copy of this book to review. My opinion is 100% my own.
This book will surely grab your attention and hold onto it. The characters are well written and fun. The storyline is good but the jumping around threw me off for a little bit.
